It’s more than just a board game; it’s a fun and engaging way for residents and visitors to learn about and take pride in our region.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local charities, making this game a community-driven project with lasting impact.
Why the Snowy Mountains Monopoly Edition?
SERVICE ONE Mutual Ltd’s mission to support the Snowy Mountains community aligns perfectly with the essence of this project. Through this customised game, local and visiting players alike will explore and celebrate the region’s highlights, from the bustling heart of Cooma to the scenic beauty of Jindabyne and the thrilling slopes of nearby ski resorts.
Game Release Timeline:
- September 16, 2024: Outreach to major sponsors begins.
- October 14, 2024: Community photo competition announced for game artwork.
- November 2024: Sponsorships open for local businesses.
- November 30, 2024: Deadline for final game designs and sponsor approvals.
- May 1, 2025: Game units are delivered.
- June 1, 2025: Official launch event announcement.
- June – August 2025: Partner activations and marketing activities.
With the launch scheduled just in time for the 2025 ski season, this Snowy Mountains edition of Monopoly promises to be a unique and sought-after keepsake.
How Your Business Can Get Involved
Businesses across the Snowy Mountains region have the opportunity to be featured on the board and become a permanent part of this game. Customisation options include property squares, branded Chance and Community Chest cards, game tokens, and more. Here’s how you can participate:
1. Board Squares:
Your business could feature as a property square on the board, with your logo and an image representing your enterprise. To maintain a smooth player experience, the board will follow a “Road to the Snow” theme:
- Cooma businesses will appear on the first side of the board.
- Jindabyne businesses will follow on the second side.
- Hotels, restaurants, and leisure spots will occupy the third side.
- Ski resorts will complete the circuit.
Additionally, premium squares in Pink 1, Red 3, and Dark Blue 2 will feature businesses specifically promoted through Chance cards, enhancing player interaction with your brand.
2. Chance & Community Chest Cards:
With Chance and Community Chest cards, businesses can include unique scenarios that incorporate their brand. Although the outcomes of these cards (e.g., “pay $100” or “move back three spaces”) remain consistent with the classic game, the scenarios can be customised. Imagine a card that reads: “Take your friends to [Your Restaurant] for a delicious meal – pay $100.” Your logo will also appear on the card, providing further brand exposure.
3. Custom Game Tokens:
The game tokens represent some of the Snowy Mountains’ most iconic symbols. Instead of the classic top hat or thimble, players can move around the board using pieces like a skier, snowboarder, mountain bike, hiking boot, brumby, kangaroo, or wombat. Businesses have the option to sponsor these tokens, bringing a unique local flavor to every game.
Additional Sponsorship Packages
Various sponsorship packages are available to suit different business needs and budgets. Options include:
- Gold Package ($10,000): Includes a property square, a full-page ad in the enclosed leaflet, and a premium feature on the box cover.
- Silver Package ($5,000): Includes a property square and a half-page ad.
- Bronze Package ($2,000): Includes a property square and a quarter-page ad.
Other add-ons are available, such as token sponsorships ($5,000) and pre-sale packages of 10 game units for $650, delivered to your outlet before the launch.
Box Cover Design:
The box cover will feature stunning local imagery, with three winning photographs from a community competition. Each of the seven premium sponsors will also have their property square image featured at the bottom of the box cover, ensuring strong visibility for potential buyers.
Supporting Local Charities
True to SERVICE ONE Mutual Ltd’s commitment to community, a portion of the game’s proceeds will benefit these local organisations –
- Snowy Mountains Wildlife Rescue (LAOKO)Provides 24/7 wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and disaster response in the Snowy Monaro region. Their services include wombat mange treatment and general wildlife care.
- Ski Patrol ServicesVarious ski patrol groups across NSW provide emergency care and rescue services to snow sports enthusiasts, promoting safety and raising public awareness of responsible snow use.
- Cooma Community ChestSupports families with children’s sports and academic pursuits, and assists locals facing hardships such as homelessness, domestic violence, and serious health issues.
Sales and Distribution
As a unique community edition, the Snowy Mountains Monopoly game will be exclusively sold through sponsor and partner businesses, making it a fantastic addition to local retail and a unique gift option for clients and visitors. With an initial order of 1,500 copies at a retail price of $79.95, the game is expected to generate substantial local interest.
To ensure maximum impact, SERVICE ONE Mutual Ltd and Winning Moves will promote the launch with a community-wide marketing campaign, including a large launch event featuring a life-sized Mr. Monopoly mascot, a 5m x 5m display board, and giant dice.
